The walk towards Glavica begins on the path from Jelvik, where woodland trails, views over the Korana River and glimpses of the landscape between the trees are all part of the experience. These are familiar surroundings where it is easy to feel connected to nature, yet every walk can offer something different. As the seasons change, so do the colours, the light and the atmosphere, revealing new details in places you may already know well.

As I walked through the forest above the Korana, I could see Jambrić and other familiar spots along the water. This time, I felt no need to make my way down to the river. The days had grown shorter and cooler, and the walk naturally took me in another direction. What remained was a sense of connection to a familiar landscape, along with the recognition that every season has its own place and time.

The path towards Glavica continues through the woods, winding between trees and across terrain that can become damp and slippery after rain. In some places, the trees open up to beautiful views; elsewhere, the trail draws you back into the forest. That is part of what makes this walk so enjoyable: there is no need to wait until you reach your destination to enjoy being outdoors.

Beech Forest and the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

At Glavica, the forest opens onto towering beech trees, their smooth trunks and canopies touched with autumn colours. When the wind picks up, leaves break free from the branches and drift gently to the ground. Sunlight filters through the canopy, illuminating the trunks and changing the appearance of the forest from one moment to the next.

Benches and tables beneath the trees can be found near the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It is a place to pause, enjoy the quiet and take in the forest as autumn unfolds around it. Sometimes, all it takes to appreciate a place like this is a little time among the trees, listening to the wind and the rustling leaves.

Autumn's Woodland Treasures

Glavica is more than a destination. Woodland paths continue beyond the church, leading towards the forest edge or deeper among the trees. Each offers a different perspective on the landscape, while autumn brings its own natural treasures.

Among the fallen leaves, you may find various kinds of mushrooms, including parasol mushrooms, while chestnuts lie scattered across the forest floor. For those who enjoy exploring the woods and gathering seasonal finds, this is a particularly rewarding time to visit. After rain, the colours become more vivid, the tree trunks grow darker and the fallen leaves stand out even more.

Morning is the ideal time for a walk, while sunlight still reaches deeper into the woods. Later in the day, shadows gradually spread through the forest, changing the way the landscape looks and feels.

The paths from Jelvik towards Glavica, along with the trails through the forest itself, offer plenty of reasons to spend more time outdoors. Whether you come for a peaceful walk, the autumn scenery or a search for woodland treasures, Glavica offers a lovely setting to enjoy the season. Some sections may also appeal to experienced mountain bikers and gravel cyclists, provided they have suitable equipment and take care on uneven and occasionally slippery terrain. Glavica is also connected to cycling route 23.
